think you've seen it all... a guy sent a '70s Ford truck to Harolds shop the other week ...wouldn't crank. had new, batt. starter, starter solenoid, voltage reg and batt. cables. i helped Buddy troubleshoot the problem...we started testing stuff and found it had no fire from batt. we installed (another) new cable and if we wiggled it then it would crank...come to find out...voltage reg. wasn't grounded... not done... yesterday we were trying to crank a VW motor on the work table and needed a batt. cable...we found the new cable hanging on the wall from the Ford truck. we used it and the motor had no power from batt... after checking the cable we found that when the...molded end... was installed on the cable, someone didn't remove the cable installation before putting the end on... another one of the reasons they call them...electral nightmares... ......
Gotta have a ground and gotta have electricity when working with 12V. Some people don't need to be working on cars. I bet Harold like to see this type of customers.
I'm actually looking forward to electrical problems. well not the problems, but something I know I can figure out on my own lol. I can rewire and solder like a mo-fo with a schematic. Electricity is just straight forward. It's all about signal flow. Maybe I shoulda bought an MG... when it comes to electrical stuff I ALWAYS prefer to make my own cables and snakes to avoid those sorts of problems, unless it's just ridiculous to do so.
I see this stuff on a semi regular basis Frank. AFter 17 years of it nothing surprises me anymore.......
