Hi all, I am thinking about taking the Mav to a test n tune and I was wondering what all is needed to pass track inspection. My car is not fast enough to need a cage or anything like that, but I know some basic things are required. I tried looking on the track's website but I couldn't find anything. Any help is appreciated. -Thanks
on a 1/4 mile track if the car is faster than 13.99 you need a helmet. make sure the battery is secure, all lug nuts are on, drivers seat belt works, windows are good. basic safety stuff. no oil leaks that can be seen. good luck.
Rules Well, you're going to need a battery hold down that holds the battery secure (no movement), You will need a radiator overflow catch can, double return spring on the throttle, functional neutral safety switch (car won't start unless it's in nuetral or park), no leaks and a helmet if your car is quick enough....Have fun
If you're running stock wheels with hubcaps and trim rings...remove them before heading to the track. Can't run with them. Also, on a side note, most tracks don't like it when you are running treaded tires and you drive thru the water box. You'll be slinging water down the track, so just go around it. Have fun!
make sure you don't have too muck rubber fuel line i don't know how much is on a stock maverick but my friend has a 69 camero and he had to get some different fuel line. i think braided hose is okay
It is an 1/8 mile track and it should go into the mid 8's, would I still need a helmet? If so, what kind, would a dirtbike helmet work?
What everone else said, and no more than 1 foot of rubber fuel line in the entire car.A dirt bike helmet should be fine.
if it's an nhra or ihra track the helmet needs to be snell certified. i think snell k98, snell 2000 or later. a dirt track helmet will not work, unless it has the snell rating. 13.99 in the 1/4 is 8.59 in the 1/8. to be sure you might want to call the track and see what they say.
