    i have a 71 maverick i6..every time i press the gas all the way it seems like its going to turn off or sometimes it stalls , but i pump it once more and then it take off.. any help will be appreciated..

    try these

    it sounds like the timing isnt advancing. check your plugs for the right gap and color. carb maybe running a little too rich, or your vacumm advance canister is sticking, weak spark, and im not a mechanic so this is just my opinion. good luck!:tiphat:

    Another thing to look at is the vacuum lines. Make sure they're all good. I also agree with the timing and fuel filter. Might be time for a complete tune up if you haven't done this for a while.:)

    if your still running points, check 'um for gap and carbon, make sure they are breaking even, = not //.

    HA HA, Yeah that is a good question in modern times with all the electronic distributors. The points are inside your distributor under the cap they open and close when motor is running allowing the coil to send spark to the plugs. They need to be set to a certain gap and should look like they fit snug when closed
