on one of my earlier posts someone said that it would be tricky at best to put headers on with the shifter on the coulumn and i was wondering if this was true and if so how hard would it actually be to put headers on

virtually all the headers on the market are listed as not for column shift. its a matter of take a chance and try to make them fit, if you're lucky. maybe someone else on here has gotten some to fit and can say what brand??

I had 88300 long-tube headers, and there was no way they'd fit. I had to trim one of the linkage rods at the column for the #8 tube to clear, and I can't see any way that the rods would work, unless one was to remove the #8 header tube and reposition it.

I have a set of heddman headers and I had to bend the linkage for the shifter..... works now but I you would still be better of switching to a floor shifter

guess i didn't realize a manual could be on the column. never knew it til i talked to my dad. i have an automatic does it have linkages that will be in the way of a header? if it does is there away to get good exhaust so I can replace a 2 barrel with a 4 barrel?
