they dyno your car down there? :p
Hopefully I could pass emmissions... think performance headers going back to dual exhaust with 2 flowmasters would pass? I mean there is no catty coverter or anything... only thing stopping it from being open headers is the mufflers...

I have Flowtech made by Holley also. Ordered them from my local parts store for $90.00. Have had them on for 3 years now, no problems. Best investment I could've made for increased horespower & noise (got to love the loud!).

for the most part, real world emissions testing for cars like ours is pretty lax. however, a lot of stations just look under the car, no cats, no pass. you could always take it to a backwater station and pay $20 to pass (not saying you should, just could).

Beginning in mid 1975, a cat converter was installed on all the cars. The engine decal should indicate if there was a cat originally on the car.

I called Summit today...They said that 6901's will not fir a 77 Comet with a 302. Why is that?

Easy ... because Summit is wrong ... they will fit ... You will have fitment issues with a column mounted shifter if your car has one ...

All the Summit people know how to do is read catalogs. For some reason Hooker only lists 70-77 Mavericks for 6901's and left Comets out ... should be 70-77 Maverick/Comets in their catalog not just Mavericks. Call em back and ask if it will fit a 1977 Maverick ....

    6901's are "no air conditioning?"

Summit's site says "no air conditioning" on Hooker 6901's. Does it really matter, my 71 302 car has factory A/C and I wanted to run these headers.

So if I put a B&M shifter in the floor, the headers will work fine? My shifter is on the column now. It's an auto, but I plan to put it in the floor.

You may want to look at Bassani exhaust systems in Anaheim, CA www.bassani.com . He is a very "Ford-guy" and has supported all the Ford mag project cars for years. His manufacturing quality is second to none and their customer support is the best in the industry. They have lots of "what if-type" applications and made the first commercially available "stepped" headers(due respect to the lower lower-volume NASCAR-oriented guys at Burns Stainless in Costa Mesa, CA). It's worth a look at their X-Pipes as well. Not "cheap", just proven quality.

I can't speak for the Hooker 6901's as I got my headers from Mavericknutt and we don't know what brand they are, but I have headers AND the automatic with column shift. You will have to modify your linkage, but it can be done. I like the stock-look right now (I may wake up and like something else tomorrow :smack:) but like I said, it can be done. Just time-consuming.

Oh, by-the-way, does anyone know of any header that has larger primaries that will fit in a Maverick? I was wanting a larger set of primaries for my next engine. Thanks, Preston

For 1-3/4" Primaires see Hooker SuperComp 6208 (originally for 1964-70 Mustang/Cougar 351W Engine Swap)

See this post for other components and nece$$ary hardware.

Tubular makes a big tube for 65-66 Stangs.
They are NOT swap headers. They are 289-302 only.
    TFR7 is the PN.
The tubes are 1.75" and they come with adapters for the wide spaced exhaust patterns on aftermarket heads.
The tubes come as 8 individuals, then the collectors slip on after install.
