I know they are the best flowing sbf heads.. I have been reading a lot about them. I saw scoopers picture of the drivers header with p heads and the plugs came out under the header tube. I also read in some old posts that you could use spark arms on some and keep from burning the wires. I was wondering where to get spark arms and if anyone else uses these heads. I know the gt40's are better than gt40p heads but I am trying to put together an engine for cheap and figure p heads are easier to find

There are some angled "plug extensions" that I have seen, where you plug one end on the spark plug, and then there is a long ceramic post with the electrode inside, then you can plug your wire to the end, but it has been a long time since I saw them and wouldn't know where to start looking.

Someone posted a pic on here of them, but I doubt that pic is still available after all this time.

non-P GT40 heads are not any more expensive. They are about the same price, but all the mustang guys have yanked up the GT40s. They are still out there to be found in junk yards, craigslist, ebay, etc.

I would HIGHLY recommend the non-Ps. They don't flow enough less that you would notice the difference, and your intake and cam likely won't take advantage of that last little bit of flow.

I am wanting regular gt40's but will use the p heads if I can find them at pull a part. I am trying to put together an engine as cheap as possible

they are not the best flowing small block ford head. now if your saying that they are the best flowing production small block ford head you may be right. the clevland heads could be the best but require so much modifications that i can understand them not being consiered.

I didn't even consider clevland heads since it takes so much to use them. I remember reading that the 4v clevland heads flowed as much as many aftermarket heads

I wouldn't go gt40P rout! I would go for non p! I did this on mine because I didn't realize the issues with the plugs untill I went to install the headers So my best bet was to get the spark arms! changing the plugs will be a PITA! that will be my only problem now!
