I just noticed my tires in front are really wearing out on the inside edges. Luckily, these are the old tires I'm taking off... However, I don't want it to happen to my replacements. Would this be a sign that I need new tie rod ends? Ball joints? Is there any adjustment for camber in these cars? (1976 4-door). I'm bringing it to a shop, just wondering if anyone has any ideas I can heve them look for. Thanks,
Sounds like you have a negative camber or negative tow problem, or both. You might also have some worn parts. Yes there is a camber cam located where the lower control arm meets the frame. The caster adjusters are on the strut rods. So all 3 measurements can be adjusted on the car. You are doing the correct thing by taking it to someone to look at it. Just make sure that its someone that has some experience with older cars. There are a lot of things to check for and some of the "New" mechanics sometimes don't know what to look for. Heck, I have ran into a lot of them that don't even know how to adjust a set of points. Good luck with the search and repair.
