Does anyone have an opinion about the Performance Suspension Technologies "Super PolyGraphite Front End Kit" for $549? I'm considering purchasing it and would like some testimonies. Also, does anyone have advice on what kinds of springs I should swap in if I want "performance" handling and stock height? Thanks!
I just purchased the same suspension from PST. I'll be putting it in the Mav this week. I was advised by members of this board that PST is the way to go. I've given all the components a visual check. Everything looks good to me (re: quality, craftsmanship, esthetics, etc). BTW, I got mine for $529. Tell them you heard they had a package deal on the "Super Poly-graphite" system (they won't offer it unless you ask). Reerformance Springs Unless they made more than one set when they recently made mine, they won't have 'em in stock. In fact they will order them from Moroso. It takes about three weeks to get 'em in. Be prepared to tell them the ride weight and front to rear weight distribution (I approximated mine at 2700 ride weight with a 65/35 front to rear distribution). The stock springs that were on my car had 7 coils. The new ones have 11. They HAVE to inform you these springs are NOT for street use (which I don't intend to do so that it didn't matter to me). These springs will allow the front end to lift easily (to transfer weight) but won't let it bottom out on the way down. They act like a 90/10 drag shock. To compensate for that action, the drag shocks I bought from Summit ( at "http://www.summitracing.com" ) can be adjusted from the track 90/10 position to a 50/50 street postion (or whatever is most confortable/controllable). The Summit P/N for the shocks is SUM-G7603 " http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=4409" and they are about $27 each (not a bad price for adjustable shocks). You'll also have to inform PST of the diameter of your front sway bar (for the suspension kit only - not for the shocks). I think mine was 3/4" (small). Good Luck to BOTH of us! Rick
I installed the front end kit from PST this past summer. Not the Super kit just the frontend kit with the "poly" bushings. It was a nice kit. Only two things bugged me was - 1 No instructions(but if your rebuilding the front end you should have a manual anyhow) 2 the lower control arms come with the rubber bushings installed that you have to remove and install the "polly" ones. These aren't really big problems, but they were things that I didn't expect. Good luck. Russ
Correction: 'Special' price was $519 (not $529) Re:'How to instructions': If you buy the suspension kit, you can buy the VHS "how to" tape for $10 Normally $20 without an order. I thought the video was very helpful. Just MHO
Thanks!!! Fellow Maverick-ians and Comet-ites, Thank you for your keen insight, it looks like I'm off to get one of these fancy-schmancy kits! Atzy.
