I learned to drive stick on my dad's 1971 Maverick 3-on-the-tree -- I thought it was a total piece of crap when I took it to college in 1983, but I sure miss it. So now I'm looking to find something similar. This car has been listed for a long time, and looks beautiful, although it seems to me to be overpriced - http://sanantonio.craigslist.org/ctd/2690332234.html. Anybody here have any comments?
This car has been talked about on this forum many times and has been for sale for quite awhile, it is a nice car but I believe for the money or less you could find just as nice with a V8 if desired. Where are you located ? There are some nice cars that members of this board have for sale, check the for sale section on this forum
Ah, you are correct - looks like I could have bought it here for a much more reasonable price a couple years ago! I'm in the Atlanta area. I've been keeping my eyes open for a few months - there are a lot of nice cars, but haven't found one just right yet. I may be one of the few that actually wants the 3-on-the-tree, if only for nostalgia reasons.
The bad part about a three on tree is the linkage in the steering column has been known to be prone to having issues with age and people learning how to shift them Good luck with your search I am sure with time you will find something to fit you budget and desires
That poor car has been for sale for so long. I think the price got down to around 9 grand. I assume this is the guy who bought it now selling it.
