there is a local shop here that makes carbon fiber parts for dragsters, floorboards, dashes and stuff. I know that the price gets down when they do quanity. Just for curiosity I will ask them how much a hood would be in some sort of quanity. I know a friend is having one made for his Falcon Sprint, and it is going to run about 2000.00, but that is for one.

Keep in mind that there is almost no reason to inquire about "quantity." One hundred people haven't yet purchased the finned aluminum Maverick valve covers at only $169 a pair. There wouldn't be 100 carbon fiber Maverick hoods sold within our lifetime, especially since they would COST several hundred dollars per hood. But it will be interesting to see what they say...

True, but for me and I am sure others, the big issue with the valve covers is rocker clearance.....and I for one will not put a spacer on it.
they are truly a nice and unique piece (y)

these are tall valve covers and I had to machine them for clearance, might be my rocker girdle :hmmm: but I grinded alot of material off the inside to get them to clear.

See? A .544 lift cam is a pretty big cam for a small block. Trust me, not that many Maverick guys out of the thousands who are out there are running roller rockers AND a cam any bigger than that. Yet 100 people haven't purchased them. What everyone also has to understand is now the manufacturer that made them is dead to all Maverick parts proposals. I had to literally beg and plead, and pay every dime up front in order to get them to make the Maverick valve covers. They are not pleased that more will never be sold. They say they barely broke even on the deal. They claim they sell sometimes a hundred sets a MONTH of Mustang, and even junk like "Bronco" valve covers, yet Maverick owners haven't even purchased 100 TOTAL. That's why very little can be reproduced for the Mavericks unless it's very cheap and can be done in VERY low quantities - or it interchanges with other Ford products. I could have door panels reproduced if I could sell 100 SETS of ONE color. But I can't since I know I'll never sell 100 sets of one color for one (well, maybe two) model(s); not even black Grabber panels for 71-72 models. It's too risky. All the suppliers want full payment up front. No retailer with any sense will front that much investment because you'd have to sell half to 3/4 of them very quickly to recoup your investment. That can't be done. I do Maverick parts because I love the cars. Otherwise it wouldn't be worth it to me. But I try. I wanted to see us have those valve covers. And I'd love to see us have lots of other reproduction stuff, but people actually have to ante up and BUY them before retailers will pay to have other stuff made or even molds reconditioned. It's too bad our membership doesn't contain some people that work for some of the suppliers so they could channel their own love of Mavericks through to their superiors and get more stuff done.
Thanks for the kudos on doing the covers. I apologize for going off on such a rant. I just get wound up sometimes. I don't want to thwart anyone's efforts to get stuff reproduced either. I just want to encourage everyone on this board to take advantage of everything that does get done - by whoever is able to do it. Trust me, it's a very difficult process to get accomplished. Everyone - Keep on Mavericking.

I don't have any clearance issues either (that I know of :D) with Comp Cams Magnum roller 1.6 rockers and a .544/.555 lift roller cam. I think alot of folks with roller rockers are needlessly scared of these valve covers, unless those are just the people with monster lift cams or stud girdles, I can see where those might be an issue.

As to the market for Maverick parts, I think things will change as more people are turned onto these cars. I think the biggest problem is aside from the message boads, there really isn't any real advertising of them, and advertising is expensive, so you need a market large enough to support that too. Vicious circle isn't it? :)

My most gratious thanks for the purchase, and "here-here" to Maverick Matt's post. It can be a vicious circle. And even you guys with moster cams can use the spacers. They really aren't that bad. I had them on my red car. It actually kind-of made the motor look cool, almost like a Boss or big-block. I had many people ask what engine was actually in the car! And I never had any leakage from the two sets of gaskets. Here's a photo of that engine. It wasn't with the Maverick valve covers since they weren't available then, but the 84-85 Mustang valve covers are very similar, just a bit shorter, so I had to use the spacers to clear my roller-tipped rockers.
