exhaust manifold

    hey guys just went and got a muffler system but still it sounds loud under the hood when u get going cant hear it when u are idling think it might be manifold and if thats it does it take a gasket and how hard is it to get it on there thanks tom

    Getting the manifold off can be a hassle (8-cyl?). There are a couple of bolts that will hit the shock towers and won't come all the way out. But, I believe that if you take the bolts out and slide them back, you could slip the gasket in between the heads and manifold, then slip the bolts back in.

    tommy,
    you say "muffler system"...was that complete from exh. manifold? if not, the gasket between the pipe and the manifold could be burned out. most times they don't replace that piece of pipe...i think they don't because fear of breaking the bolts off in the manifols
    .i have broken as many as five (5) bolts off in the head taking the manifold off :yup: . i now use ...P.B. blaster...for a few days before i try to break them loose ...frank...:bouncy:
