Discs Charlie, I think there may be a problem with the NAPA on line catalog because when I checked for the proper caliper for the 1974/1975 maverick and the 1975 granada the same part number came up for all 3. Drivers side--SDC- 2424006 and passengers side SDC--2424007 Do you have the Ford part numbers for these years? The only reason is that I bought parts from NAPA as special order and may have a problem returning them, plus I would not know what I am looking at if the parts were laying on the counter in front of me. Thanks Tony
disc upgrade --update Hey everybody, I'm back on the right track and moving forward!! I have 1975 Maverick rotors, calipers and spindles. I assembled the whole thing on the NAPA counter complete with the wheel bearings and the pads. Everything fit and works! Thanks Earl, Corbin, Charlie for your help. I think the worst is over, and all that is left is the installation which will be easy. Tony
front Discs I have a 1974 Maverick and I want to use spindles from a 1976 Granada. Are you saying that this conversion should work?
If you have stock rims on a 72 or older, you will have to get different rims. The bearings are larger on the later disc brake options, and the stock small bearing rims won't fit. Just something to consider if you plan on keeping stock 5 lug rims. If you have 4 lugs, well then you have to get new rims anyway... On rear discs: There are 8.8" rear discs that bolt on to some 8" and 9" rears. They were on Exploders, Crown Vics, Mercs, and Lincolns. You have to watch out though. Some had bolt spacings that fit big bearing 9" rears, and some had bolt spacings to swap onto small bearing 9" and all 5 lug 8" rears. Not all, but many of the aftermarket disc conversion kits out there are just the parts off these stock 8.8" rears. The best way to tell is if the parking brake is located inside the rotor itself. They call this the 'top hat' rotor. That was stock. Versillies and Monarch/Granada rear discs are moderately hard to find AND parts are very expensive to rehab a set. The parts can be bought over the counter, but are super high priced. They are also FAR heavier than modern rear discs. I think just one new rotor was well over 100 bux the last time I looked at Versillies rear disc parts. Dave
