ya know, i am pretty happy. i mean i feel that my car is fast. but i want to be the fastest guy at the high school. right now hes running 8.8 seconds in a 1 gen eagle talon. all hes got on me is a 5 spd and all wheel drive. but its got some huge after market turbo thats makeing about 20lbs of boost. he claims about 320hp out of a 2 litre. i dunno. but thanks for all of the advice guys.

He's running 8.8? Thats pretty fast out of a 2 litre... and 20 lbs of boost is never good for things.. I know... seen a guy do it... several times haha.
Did he do all his own work? If not then your the fastest in my view, as if hes just some punk highschool kid that his parents pay for things... then to me, your the best.
Also, never seen a AWD Talon... I learn something new everyday

Gears will help you greatly, but the trade off will be loss of traction. The high gears are helping your 60' time right now.
Cheap slapper bars and a trac-lok will help when you get gears.
The slapper bars have to be dialed in though, don't just bolt them on hanging low and expect them to work. I used washers as shims to tune mine.
The spool idea is not good if you drive the car on the street at all.
They are extremely hard on tires, axles, and overall safety of the car. Without differential between the rear tires, turning corners and curves can be very tricky and ultimately dangerous for you and other drivers. On wet roads you are just about sure to have trouble.
IMO a used Wieand Stealth intake swap would help you some.
You will get better power and lose a tiny bit of low end port velocity to help your traction when you get the gears.
To swap to this intake before the gear change might cause a soft launch, so this is an after gear mod.
Other than that, the combo looks real nice and you should be proud of how well it is functioning with the frugal selection of parts you used. Alot of guys get much fancier parts and spend alot more dough to get the same times you are getting.
Remember also, that 100 lbs of weight is equal to 10 rwhp!
So if you cull 100 lbs of speaker box, spare tire, half a tank of fuel, even windshield washer fluid (8 lbs per gallon), you have essentially added 10 hp to your ride!
    Good luck
    Dave

ya i know about the weight trick...i dont have ne carpet, sound deadener, back seats, passenger seat.. i raced with a tad less than a 1/4 tank of gas.. dont have any bumpers on my car. moved the battery to the back. saved as much weight as i could. yup.... today at school, i was telling this kid with the talon about my times, and now his best time has moved up to 8.2.... i think i could beat him right now. for the last few weeks he has been having some problem with a air/fuel sensor. his car has been running really bad. hes an alright guy though. he dosnt rub it in everyones face that he has the fastest car.. hes kinda smooth about it. its been a good experience and id do it again this weekend, but im spending my cash on tail pipes. thanks again guys.

also id like to add that i am rather frugal. so ill be going to the salvage yard for some rearend parts. ya know what they say, 1 mans junk is another mans treasure. hehe. im also looking for a edelbrock perf RPM intake. id go with a single plane, but i like the low end power i get with the dual plane.

    Your reactions.

Just remember your reactions times are really your main thing, no matter how fast someone is they can lose to you by coming off the tree with a reaction slower then yours.

But good Ets also make you feel alittle better, if nothing els get a hood to use for your mav when drag racing cut a round hole init and mount you a scoop onit get more air and runs cooler also remember the hoter the slower the cooler the faster.

Another the after doing your brun out do you kick off the unwated ruber build up on your hides if not after doing your brun out bump the hides over real quick it don't take much don't do like you would a full brunout, but like the rest has said for your set up and runing your doing good best key to geting better is always remember goodthings take time bad things come fast so try the small simple things first and the big ones last.

I have seen many many simple done motor eat up a motor that has had 1000s wasted into it.

actually, i do have a hood scoop. its listed under a thread called "pics of my paint". my best reaction time was .0987. so that aint bad... im happy with that.. i just got a job at mickey Ds. so more speed parts are going to be coming. solid Crower cam, edelbrock intake, get my new heads on there..... ill be running 8's soon, well scratch that. itll be next season. but yeah, im having fun.

    Another thing.

Anothing is get note of the things you did that worked bad or better for you on the strip like any changes you make to the car keep note of what you did and how they helped geting note of the outside temp on the day of runing also helps, And if you think hard about you really really should be happy.

Look around in the field of drag racing how many 17 year olds do you se drag racing on the strip i bet i can count them all on one hand thats right not many keep your hope and will power and the speed on the strip not the street.

Keep us posted i think your going to do just fine and would like to see how well you do post some Rt ET slips if can.

And the things you did to inprove, and i hate to tell the little guy at your school hes going to be looking for a motor before long it's all in how you set them up cant just slame parts on and think they are going to do what makes of them say they will the driver has his part in that to happen also tuning a key word better known as dailing it in.
