Caltracs really seem like the way to go. I'll end up going that route also. Thanks for the part# and pics Mr. Stephen! Preston

QA1 now offers a "bolt in" front shock for Maverick's, it does not need to be modified to work. The part # is TC1544P and you can get them from summit for $142 each.

I just ordered a set of the CE 90/10's from Summit today. They are only 26.95 each. They have three different settings. I may set them on 80/20 since this will mostly be a street car.

i know the ce shocks are a lot cheaper, but i'm sure there is a reason they are not reccommended for the street by ce. be careful.:2cents:

I havn't fell asleep on this thread...just sittin back gauging everyone's opinion and doing some researching.
Unfortunately QA1's website is under redesign and unless you want to do a 16 meg download in pdf you can't get any info. I did the download. They are the stocker "R" series.
Summit offers up nothing but the part number and the price and shipping is 3 weeks out.
I guess what it boils down to is what you want and how deep your pockets are.
300 bucks for a pair of shocks is steep, but they are an excellent product, it's too bad they don't heve em in steel yet.

Well, they definitely are pricey but nothing compared to the double adjustable at like $350 each. The thing is that you never need to buy another shock, these are completely re-buildable and re-valveable. I ended up going with lakewoods all the way around and then adjustable Rancho's and then the Qa1's. For what I had in the lakewoods and rancho's I could have just bought the qa1's first off.

I don't see why they aren't reccomended for the street really. My car drives just fine with them. I'm sort of wondering if something isn't right with mine. I followed the instructions for purging them and setting the valving. Maybe they'll rise easily with the sway bar disconnected?

Ray if your gonna disconnect it at the stab links which to me would be the easiest place I would think it would allow it to jump. I'm rebuilding my front end and the torque specs on the links are 5-14 lbs which doesn't seem like much but I ran the nut a good inch up the threads before I got to 7 lbs. it snugged up those poly bushings pretty good.

That's where I've been disconnecting it when I went racing. It does make a difference, it's just that I expected these shocks to react a lot differently.
