On my car with the HEI style distributor (it's a GM style to fit the 302, one wire only required) I found it was getting somewhere around 10 volts if I used the wire that's supposed to go to the distributor. The short story is I am now running this wire to a relay and getting the source for the distributor staight from the battery (like 14 volts). Was running a high cfm electric fan, but it would draw the motor when it came on. I'm trying to get the a/c functioning and when both the fan and the a/c kicked in it would damned near kill the motor. My alternator is a 94 amp GM (like the one wire hook up). Went back to a belt driven fan, and so far it runs much better. Have to get a shoud.
