If one had a comet with a straight frame and was already set to go... but kinda wanted to make the front end look like a mav... would it just be the hood, grill, and small bumper that needs replacing? OR are the fenders/ metal under the gril whose name escapes me diffferent as well?

The fenders are the same. Center grill support would need to be changed to a small bumper grill center support. The Comet has an extra plastic center grill support as well. Stone guards are also Comet/Maverick specific 1970-1072.

i am currently doing the same thing that you are asking about. but im tackling a mav conversion as well as a small bumper conversion. you deffinitly need the grill, hood, valence, stone guard, bumper of course, and im sure i forgot something

I have everything you would need to do what you're asking for...

Grill, valance, stone guard, bumper brackets, etc.

PM if you need anything :)

You can tell people about all of the hard work it took to put those custom tail lights on your Maverick :biglaugh:

Years ago, we actually cut the Comet taillight panel out, and totally converted a Comet to a Maverick! but a barn fell on it...so it went to the scrap yard, it just wasn't meant to be a Maverick...

ha ha sounds like me Ive always known about the mavericks and wanted one as long as I could remember but never heard of a comet anything before.
I saw my comet on craigslist and was determined to get it even though I only had $500 and they wanted $1800 lol conveniently it was about a mile or two from home that was 5 years ago. now I have a sickness. I have to try and buy every maverick and comet I see lmao
