He didn`t use an addaptor he worked on the log untill it would bolt up he is on the ford six forum if you want to ask him I think he is "does10s" on that forum
It's your car, have fun. I will say however, that you'll have to dump a LOT of money into that "6" to beat my V-8. Some people DO have money to burn though...maybe you're one of them...
I never said I was out to beat you for all I know you could be making over 600 hp I have plans on ~300 @ the wheels I could make more but thats all I want . You have no idea how much I`ll spend on my build up or what I`ll do my self to save money .
I seriously doubt that. In fact, it's physically impossible to build a 13 second I-6 for the same or less money than a 13 second 302. I'll bet money on it... Did you see the car run 13s or is that just what the guy told you it ran?...
i set this motor in my 77' yesterday. i ran it in my 71' and loved the comments i got from the 5.0 guys...frank...
IT LIVES!!!!! Glad to hear you are still alive and well. I see you have been busy! Hope it runs as good as it looks....but judging by Chris's Mav, it will! Later, Earl
ditto TL makes great points. assuming you can get either a I6 or 5.0 into the 13's, it'll still cost you considerably more $$$$ to get the I6 there. also... people are proud of their rides, and often tend to fudge their actual 1/4 mile ET's. take that with a grain of salt. IF that I6 is truely as fast as he says.. it likely cost a LOT of $$$$ to get it there, and it probably has no manners. btw.. you guys need to call a truce. i think everyone is committed to getting the most of their car(s) possible. most of us will use their existing nucleus. whether you have a V8 or I6, we still drive the same kind of car. i dont think we are in competition with one another. i support any efforts to propel an I6 to the performance level of a V8, but thats an uphill battle, and the V8 will win almost every time. TL is adamant about his points, and it seems that someone takes offense of it. he is entitled to his opinion, as is everyone. just respect it and let it go. i dont think he's wishing failure on the I6 project. this discussion seems a little pointed, and its not necessary
I have a friend that races a 6 cyl his best time is 11.54. I dont understand why you think is so costly to build a fast six. The only problem with a ford six is the head and that is easily fix by getting a Ausi head. This head and carb setup will cost about $600. To rebuild the 6's shortblock with forged pistons and balanced is cheeper than a v8 and the coat of rebuilding the head is less also. Its easy to port for a 13 sec car. There are good cams for your six, the only part that is really more money is a 4 bbl manifold but the Ausi 2 bbl manifols will easily get you to 13.50 and Holley 500 2 bbl's are cheep and easy to tune. Also a ford six can take a bunch of nitrous, look at the bottom end in a six...7 main bearings and stout rods, just add good forged pistons and a balance.
T.L. have you ever built up a six if not you have no idea what it takes to make a fast six well here I`ll tell you turbo and from what I hear it very good on the street I don`t think he used a very big cam so that prolly a big part of it . There is another guy on the ford six forums with a 14 sec. 65 or 66 stang and a 200 I6 with the log intake . T.L. what does you`r car run ?

The best ET on the first time out was a 14.43@93. 7lbs of boost, 70% throttle open. (I limited it for motor break in and tuning) We're going to make some more passes on June 12th at SIR. I'll update everyone on the progress. The goal for this next session will be to get it into the 13's. Later, Will _________________ '86 Mustang w/T-64, Best ET: 10.70@132. I couldn`t find the other posts one of them had a pic of the time slip I think and the other (could have been the same one) said how much he spent on it I know he used a lot of used parts and got a good deal on the rebuilt tubo
My six is as fast as many V8's. Cost was about what a nice build up on a 302 would have been. Starts instantly, great gas mileage, unique sound, will fry the back tires on demand! I love it! Go to a car show, raise the hood......wtf!? Where? How?! It is just that cool.
That's not a true statement at all. I don't have to build up a six of my own to know what it takes to make tons of horsepower and low E.T.s. I have been into hot-rodding for 20 years and I actually do know a thing or two, believe it or not. Bottom line: Talk is CHEAP. Guys are always saying their car run's 14s, 13s, 12s, etc. Don't believe everything you hear because a lot of it is B.S. And I STILL stand by my statement that it will cost a LOT more $$$ to make a six run with a V-8. The laws of physics have not changed. The laws of air, fuel, intake/compression/power/exhaust, and volumetric efficiency are still the same. Have you priced a turbo setup?? How fast does "my" car run? I have no idea, as I have not taken it to the track since the engine swap. I'll tell you this though, I'm not intimidated by I-6s. You don't have to beat me. I'm not the fastest anyway (not by a long-shot), never will be, but if you think you're gonna hang with the performance V-8s, you need to be in-touch with reality. The last thing I want to say here is that you're taking what I'm saying too personal. I'm not attacking you or your car. Just telling you my opinions along with some facts. The original topic of this thread was : "Build my six?". My answer is no. Other's will (and have) tell you to go for it. I think it's a waste of money and effort. Ultimately, it's your project and you'll certainly do what you like with it...
