I have a problem on my 77 Maverick (power disc brakes up front) with it pulling hard to the left when I apply the brakes. I loosened the bleeder and had my wife press the brake pedal and fluid shot out very quickly, so I know there isn't a clog at least until the caliper bleeder. What would that indicate next? Possibly slow or frozen caliper? How much do new calipers run on these cars?

Sounds like a seized caliper. Jack up both front wheels and see if both are free if one is stuck you found your problem, if both are free have a helper press the brakes and see if one is free. Reman calipers are $18 +core.

mash the brakes and release it, then spin the wheel and see if it's free. sometimes the rubber line inner case will come loose and the fluid will go to the caliper but won't release all the way. that will cause the brake caliper on that wheel to be tighter than the other side...

...I see we posted at the same time...

before you change the caliper bleed teh other brakes and check your tires make sure theyre not low and check your front end (suspension) for wear if you havent already replaced all of this already

if your tires and suspension are good a good bleeding might solve your problem.

check your rotors too if one has a groove in it that one will pull first

Thanks guys, I will have to check all that. Both wheels seemed to spin freely enough at about the same rate but I need to check more into that. I was tired yesterday by the time I made it to that vehicle. I DO know that my steering box (control valve) needs to be replaced or rebuilt since it has a lot of slack in it. That makes the brake pull even more exaggerated.

Sounds like a caliper malfunctioning to me also. May be a suspension issue, but, my first thought wud be caliper.
