well couldn't remove the rod... alot of force was used... a "yank" ain't gonna cut it. I ended up cutting 1/4"-3/8" from the rod and rewelding the two sections back togeather, using a rag with ice as a heat sink around the rod at the master cylinder. the brake pedal was 8-1/2" from the floor now it's about the same as the clutch, next I'm going to lower the clutch pedal.

Did u remove the mc from the car? I wud be afraid the heat conducted thru the rod might damage some of the internals in the mc. That wud be my only concern..

yeah I took the master cylinder out of the car cut the rod with a angle grinder chamfered it with a bench grinder than welded it back togeather with ice in a rag acting as a heat sink, right after welding I moved the rag for a second and felt the rod and it was just luke warm but I just left it on there till the heat dissapated.

I did something similar to my 70. I cut and welded the rod and then welded a sleeve over the center of the cut(just for extra safety, I was a little paranoid about the weld breaking)

I wanted to do the sleeve over as well but I didn't have anything to use for that so...

    airscoop

What type of scoop did you use? I think my son's car could use a scoop and air dam to make it less of a grannie car and more of a mini muscle car look.

I see ur new to the forum. This post shud have been placed in another category, this thread was dedicated to "Brake Pedal Height". This probably shud have went to "General Discussion or Techinical" section.
It is/can be considered "Jacking the Thread" when posting something not revelant to the beginning subject matter in the first post.
Any, Welcome to the forum and u will get the hang of how things work in, due time. Look in the "FAQ" section near the top of the page on the left hand side; it will give u a better idea on how the system works...:Handshake

And to clarify the reference to a particular post, hit the "quote" button when replying so the person you are referring to will know it's him and not just anyone...

Thanks. Hopefully I'll get all this figured out so I can get back to figuring out the car. :)
So, how do you ask a question of just the person who started the thread, which was my intent?

Find the particular post you want (each individual post is separated by a colored line and numbered in the upper RH corner), then click the button labeled "Quote" in the lower RH corner of that post. This will open a reply window with that person's message quoted so everyone will know what post/subject you're referring to. Now just type your message underneath the quoted text and click "Submit" or better yet, click "Preview" first to make sure everything looks good, then submit.

In this case, the scoop on the car in question (mine) is a universal fiberglass "Boss 429" scoop I got off E-Bay for $79...
