Yeah I think it deserves some, sounds like an exhaust valve issue or bad rings on that clyinder, if you can put an air hose to it and put a little pressure to it and see if the pressure is escaping through the valves or going into the oil pan when the valves are closed

with the air will here it in the exhast pipe if its and exhast valve problem. if its a intake problem it will be in the carb. there will be a little in the crack case from the ring gaps but not much. take off the oil fill cap and you will hear it.

Oh you will hear it , thats for sure just where its coming from is important.

I will put my money on it coming from the valves since it back firing and I would even further my guess that you arent going to like it

Its like really loud in the pan?

i did have 100 psi going into it which moved the cylinder down. Im going to try another cylinder to make sure.

you have to put that cylinder on its top dead center between the compression and ignition stroke. mark on the distrbutor body where the post for the #2 cylinder is. take off the cap. turn the crank till the rotor points at your mark. now hook up the air. if the crank turns then you were not right on tdc. try again at a little bit different spot close to where the rotor points at #2. good luck

there will be some air in the pan. it gets by the ring gaps. alot of air is bad. do a wet compression test on cylinder 2. thats where you put a little oil in the cylinder through the spark plug hole. just a spoon full is all you need. then you do the compression test. the oil will seal the rings beter and should increase the compression test. if it doesnt go up then you have valve problems. also have you checked if air is coming out of your exhast pipe or carb?
