I know this has been asked a million times before, but I can't find it.

I cannot get my back seat to budge. My dad says to push in on the bottom of the seat and pull striaght up, but that's not getting me anywhere. I stuck a screw driver under it and I can kinda pry it up some but I can't see far enough under it to see what is holding it.

This seat has never been out of the car and I'm wondering if it's not just being stubborn from being in there for so long.

He said once I get the bottom out there should be 2 screws at the base of the back of the seat and it should just come right out after takeing those loose.

    Hey Jamie

Your dad is correct in how to remove it but to make it easier push down, then back and you should feel it come out of the hooks. Then do the same on the other side. The back is bolted in like your Dad said. Good luck.
    Later Tim

Well, I got it out by takeing 2 screw drivers and prying back and up at the same time on either side.

It's bad guys... it's real, real, REAL bad. Wow. Someone should call in a HAZMAT team. Ohh my god the smell is just horrible. I about lost my lunch... I knew the car had mice living in it, and it was pretty nasty cleaning out the interior back in April, but I never did pull the back seat. The nest was in the springs of the rear seat. And just when I thought I was going to get away without finding anything dead in this car. I found 3 dead rats under the back seat. [IMG] I wish I would have pulled that seat out a long time ago. There is crap and ripped up news paper everywhere.

It's just... bad. Very very bad. This car should be condemned as a health hazard. You guys should all be glad my digital camera dosen't work right now...

 Glad you finally got the seat out......I bet you had to wear a oxygen mask while taking the seat out.

LOL sorry... I have it pretty much cleaned out now. Haven't pulled the back of the seat or the plastic arm rests on the sides yet though. :90:

The smell didn't decide to come out until after I picked the seat up and threw it out in the driveway. Then I needed a gas mask to go near the car. I can't believe a smell like that can stay traped under a seat.

Man that car is loud with no carpet. I just stuck the front seat back in and drove it up to Auto Zone to get some star bits to take loose the seat belt things and man I thought I was going to be deaf by time I got home. :)

A buddy of mine just stopped by with his newly purchased, barn fresh on a trailer 66 chev pickup. Been in a barn since 92. I got about 15' from it and could smell the mouse stench. Totally gross. Nice old truck though.

Jamie, based on one of your earlier posts, rat pee-pee could have been a major cause of those rusted floor boards. When I bought it, I pulled out of a hay field. The top part of the car stayed under a tarp at my house.

Same here Dan...I was eating on a candy bar and had to set it down. Now I'm imaging what Jamie would have done if they had been alive and jumped out at him when the seat popped up. :rofl2: The smell mighta been worse than the dead rats!!!

Terry, I think your right. UNDER the back seat is rusted in the exact same way, but not nearly as bad as the floor boards. It's just real light surface rust. Why that guy ever parked this car like he did, I'll never know.

This car and all rust is getting a though cleaning before any interior (other then the front seat since I still gotta drive it) goes back in.

LOL Ray, if they would have been alive I probably would have tripped and killed myself on something trying to get out of that car fast enough. They have definately been dead for many years. (thank god)

Perhaps you should considere making your car one of thaose "rat rods."

Not only that, I bet you would've screamed like that chubby guy, in the Capital One credit card commericals, as he dove over a cubicle to get away from the big brute. Either that or screamed like a Tyler.:rofl2:
