Have been trying to clean my other puter of Trojan crap. Gave up and am on Mavman's networked Lenux. The three of us headed to the track last Sunday, I had replaced all my rockers with new one's Sat. and was ready for action. Mavman dumped in some alky, and after replacing the wore out Goodyears with 32x14.5x15 Mickey's, fired it off and the Mav seemed in good form. Jr. uncovers his Stang, and looks at the beast, shruggs his shoulders and says, "Guess it's ready, ya'll". Run our time trials and get the dial in's on the boards for the first round. Those who remember last post on a previous race day, Mavman had won the class and took home the bucks, this puts a track bounty on him for the next race, 20.00 to whoever beats him first time. First spin on the wheel and Jr. draws his big brother, a bit confident, Mavman is lighting up the big rubber to put away the lowly 9in tired Stang, with the wore out 302. Was a 9.18 against the Mav's 7.98. Tree drops and the chase is on, end result, Jr. wins and gets the bounty. This makes for interesting conversation and the usual excuses from both racers, I am grinning ear to ear. My efforts for the day, result in two straight losses because I lifted at the finish too early. Got the lights down now, and the Mont. is running it's numbers but the driver can't get the brain to engage at the finish. Am done for the day, so join other losers at the fence and watch the two lads, go on to win round after round. Mavman finally goes out with 9 cars left and Jr. ends up going to the finals and "Winning his first Pro/noe" What a day for this old guy, lots of racing, lots of sun and fellowship,( plenty of liquid refreshment at the fence watching) and proud as as could be of my boys. Someday hope to see them run each other in the finals or even maybe, all three of us hammering on our Ford's for the winners money. Monday night, wife takes me to ER with a serious complication of the urinary tract and have been homebound since. Will go to VA doctor Monday, and get a complete workup. Hope to be back at the track in two weeks, and maybe give the two boys a run for the money. Have been through the whole baseball, and other sports thing with them, but the racing has got to be the most enjoyable, to me anyway. Hope all of you can experience the same type bonding in whatever you do with your kids. Makes life a bit more tolerable.
Glad to hear you had fun, I sure miss getting to go. Im seriously debating selling my car. I'm not experienced enough to finish it myself. Glad to hear David won his first race there, wish I coulda been there. I know how the Todd vs David thing go and I bet it was a blast to watch. Sorry to hear about your health problems, keep me posted and will do anything I can to help you. God Bless, and get well soon.
Sounds like a good day. I can't wait to get back into weekly racing this year myself. Good luck with that urinary tract infection thing. : ow :
sounds like fun at the track as usual. i too will be in the doctors office on monday trying to find out what is wrong with my knee. been out of work going on 6 weeks now. worst part is i can't do anything outside the house since i'm on disability right now. had to get an mri on 3/26, also the first race of the season. however i can get my leg over the bar and can't afford to miss another race, especially since they are trying to makeup for the rainouts and are going to run one race tomorrow morning and another in the afternoon. so if i miss this one i'm down 3 races. wife's not happy but i'm loaded up and ready to go. hope you make out ok at the doctors. take care of yourself.
Wow Dave, that is an awesome story. Sounds like you have a terriffic relationship with your kids too, and to share drag racing in common is really cool. Wish you a fast recovery, does not sound like any fun.
