I've been working on my little 76 for just over a month now. Thing are progressing nicely, but I thought that by now I would be a bit further along with the project. I found a 71 Maverick parts car a couple weeks ago, and have been busy stripping it of all its parts. The 71 was actually a better looking car than the 76, and if it wasn't for some major rust issues I would be fixing it up instead of the newer car. So far I've done quite a bit of work to the 76. I've got the engine (250 I6) running like a top. The tranny (c4 automatic) had no third gear, so I've taken it out and dropped it off at the trans shop for a rebuild. I removed the bumpers and fenders in preparation for installing the parts off the 71. I took out the seats, and ripped up the carpet and pad to get to a couple of rust spots in the front floor boards. Rust! ARG! I find a little more rust every time I turn around. Luckily its mostly surface rust, but I'm finding a few spots that are rusted through. I think the worst of it is in the right rear quarter. I haven't decided whether to buy a new quarter panel, and trunk drop, or to try and patch what I've got. Anyway thats enough for now. I'll try to post some progress pics later.

    Nice!

I've had mine since Dec 25th (yup bought my 70 for xmas for myself).

    So far I have done...

    New interior (found a donor)
Found missing pieces for interior dash
    Rebuilt carb
all new plugs, wires, distributor, rotor, cap, all fluids
    Tranny filter, module
Got a stereo hooked up (blessing in itself)

and managed to do damage to
the front end due to a 30 mph collision with a fking pothole...

Will be doing the following within the next 1-2 weeks
New front end, carpet kit, springs, shocks/struts for front and back, brakes (disc from drums), body work on front valance, trunk deck lid, and front quarter panels.

Hope to do the following in 1-3 months...
Replace windshield, upgrade stereo (have **** speakers, and a 8 year old deck), replace all glass minus rear breeze windows, and rear window, more body work, paint, tint for windows, and hopefully find some rims.

So far including cost of car I have invested 700$, next week or two it will be up to a total of 1,200.

Waiting on selling my 1989 Ford Ranger so I can get about 1000-1300$ to drop into the maverick.

Good luck, and dont forget to document everything! Always before, during and after photos. Always nice to take a trip down memory lane and say "damn, it really looked like that before lol"

The small bumpers look way better than those god awful 74-77 truck bumpers.
