    What difference?

Seat of pants, or do you have some dyno numbers and mpg calculations to share with us?

no official numbers but definatly pants in the seat. 1st gear is what really get me, second gear is kind of sluggish, and 3rd gears is awsome.

I admit, I lost a little of 1st gear takeoff with the 750 (not enough stall, and doesn't wake up til around 2500 rpms), but not really enough for anyone but me to notice.

But it improved 2nd and 3rd.

What is happening to your 2nd gear?

it kind of drops off a clift and seems to shift early? Is it suppost to shift at 60?

Its just kind of sluggish, doesnt have the pull i am looking for. Mabey its the low rpms in that gear. i hit 2500 LMAO!!!!!! the max my car hits is 4000 and thats in last gear

What speed does it shift to 2nd, then 3rd?

Didn't you put in a floor shifter? If so hold it to 4500 or so before you shift. It will keep the carb and engine awake.

If you shift too soon, it will shift down into too low a rpm to make if feel alive.

Mine shifts out of 1st at around 50 or 55 mph or thereabouts, when i am running it hard.

I could be a couple mph off, but now I want to start the car up and see how high I run 1st gear.

Thats nice scooper but i dont wana blow up my motor doing 5 grand LOL, i dont think the heads can handle it, Some AH put truck heads on this motor when it was rebuilt (bought it like this)

1st gear shifts at 45 at around 3500 rpms
2nd gear shifts at 60-65 at 2500 rpms
3rd gear doesnt shift so 4500 at most?

Trans fluids a little low so it will not shift out of 2nd untill i pull that POS over and work it from second, to neutral, to drive

What truck heads are you running?

Stock mav heads are good for 4500 minimum. I ran them at the track my first race, and they did better shifting at 4500 than at 4000 or 5000.

Still, getting to 45 mph in first gear is pretty cool.

not sure but theirs no way to tell without taking them off, right?
i might just put back on the 77 granada ones, they shifted at 4500.

You should be able to see the casting numbers somewhere.

I am not going to settle with you shifting at 3500. I know it sounds scary when it gets that high, but that bottom end is STRONG! Unless you have over 100k miles. It will hold up until way after your heads and valves max out.

You need to sit in a car as it hits 7000 a couple times. That 3500 will sound like idling afterwards.

Actually, I cruise the freeway at 3500...

Sounds like you need a few trans adjustments to get those shift points better. Shifting at 2500 is way too early. Post in the trans section and do some searching on adjustments. I'm sure the forum tranny guy Paul will point you in the right direction for adjustments to the kick down and modulator.:)
That 650 isnt doing much at 2500 rpm.

Out of curiosity what tach are you using??

You will feel the power drop off before the heads hit their max flow.

So put it in 1st and run it up and when you feel it start to slow down while accellerating, you will get an idea of where the heads stop flowing.

I doubt you will get to a point where you will damage the engine while under 5k. The heads will likely stop flowing before the valves start to float.
