    Compression doesnt suck. You can run high compression with no problems at all. What sucks is when someone runs high compression with the wrong cam.

    As for no point in running an agressive cam on the street. I just have to say sorry Green earth, I think we need a brown earth day, because when it comes to cam selection I want the dirtyest, ruffest, badest camshaft in my V8. I will save the smooth power band and smooth idle for grandmas station wagon.

    Exactly.

    I plan on having as much compression as I can in my 4.6l dohc. Then again I am gonna run E85 fuel.

    High compression can put a lot of wear and tear on a starter though.....

    I think every full point of compression is worth a 3-5 percent power increase.

    More compression gives you a bigger bang from the same amount of fuel and air as it is more dense than lower compression.....

    havent run one my self but thinking on putting one in the wifes cobra
    i think it cant be to bad if ford makes them in there crate motors
    long piston skirt means good oil control in a stroker and you know how good a 302 is

    my thoughts exactly. ive heard of this on more than one occasion so i may look into it. this is why i havent bought anything yet :yup: thanks alot guys. this will help me out alot with this new build

    well i got to reading about the "budget" stroker crank and weighed the pro's and con's of everything so here's what ive come up with so far....

    1. buy a "budget" crank for $400, new steel i-beam rods for $180, new pistons for $230... for a total of $810 (w/o balancing costs, w/o rings, w/o bearings)
    *compression around 9.5-10*

    2. buy a complete 393 stroker kit for roughly $800 that includes everything (w/o balancing costs, but w/bearings & rings)
    *compression around 10.5 or better*

    3. buy new pistons $230, new rods as mentioned above $180, use stock crank, and go for a milder build. $600 would buy all bearings, rings, etc. (may also include balancing)
    *compression around 10.8 or so*


    needless to say i'd really like to replace the factory rods as they're a really big weak point in the 351w engines.

    all things considered, this car will be built to take down the strip but also have the ability to drive there, run and drive back home. so, opinion...........?

    id build the 393 IMO

    If you have access to E85 id look at higher compression ratios.I changed my truck over last week and am very happy. no rattles or pinging at 11.1 and 38* of timing
