Just bought a 1970 maverick with a 200cid 3spd. Its in great shape and runs like a champ!! Anyway it was originally a 3 on the tree and the guy who had it before me put the shifter on the floor. Great I love it on the floor but here is the problem.... The shift pattern is backwards! Ok so stick with me. 1st is up and to the left, reverse is down and to the left, 3rd is up and to the right and 2 is down and to the right. It is a pain in the ass I mean I can drive it, I just would prefer it to be the right way. It is going to be my daily driver while I build my motor and trans I am gonna put in it so my question is how to fix it:huh: ? Is it a simple linkage fix or is it the worse of the two and something inside the tranny that I cant get to:yikes: ? Thanks

Sounds like the shift arms on the tranny just need to be rotated 180 degrees.

first thing i thought is the shift arms are backwards. i had that happen once, think i just reversed the linkage.:slap:
