I just was wondering... in the stock configuration.... do the pushrods need to go back in the same spot they came from? and can I just tighten the rockers down to spec and go? I have a chiltons manual coming but these few questions came up.

If they are stock then they would be the non-adjustable rockers. That being the case you just torque down the rocker pedastal bolts to 35 ft/lbs and that's it.

to be safest and reduce the need to run them back into slightly different wear patterns.. yes. But as Frank mentioned.. it can be done without much concern if you've mixed them all up on reassembly. I'm guessing many have been there too and it's not nearly as critical as a used cam and lifter location would be.

alright, I put them all in zip lock bags with 1-12 marked on them, but I was just genuinely wondering! my chiltons manual got here today though, so Im hoping I can reduce the dumb questions I ask now :)

When you put your rocker shaft back on, make sure to tighten it down evenly! Some of the valves will be being pushed open so the pressure on that part of the shaft will feel tighter. I look at the space between the bottom of the pedestals and the head and keep the spacing equal until they all are down on the head. (y)

Im assuming that wont be an issue with a torque wrench..? Thanks for the tip either way though

Just to clarify...what he is saying is evenly tighten each rocker pedestal bolt a little at a time with just a regular socket wrench. Once each pedestal is firmly planted on the head then get the torque wrench out and tighten to specs...work from the middle out.

only thing I see it doing is...seat everything...as you torque the rockershaft.
