I'm Looking for a set of 1974 302 Maverick engine lift hooks. I need to know what they look like, are they the 2 hole or 1 hole hooks ? I also need to know the mounting locations, did they bolt to the right and left exhaust manifolds and at what point on the manifolds ? Any pictures what be a lot of help and I would appreciate it Greatly. If some one has a set they would part with I'd be interested in hearing from you. :)

I have a pair from a 73. They have 2 holes and bolt to the exhaust manifolds.

I have parted a lot of Mavs and Comets and have only had one that had those lifting hooks on it. I wonder if it was a part that they usually took off after installation

The factory left them on but I assume most hit the trash during the first spark plug change.

you will play hell getting them off with the motor in I had a ROUGH time getting them off because of the bolts being a thread too long to twist out and come up out of there.

unless you want them for nostalgia do your self a favor and go spend $20 if that on an engine lift plate that bolts to the top of the engine in place of a carb.
it makes life SO much easier to pull and install an engine.
no more worrying about the chain needing to be adjusted or too light or too long or too short or if the bolt hill hold or not. just hook the hook from your cherry picker into the hole and go.

I always wondered how safe it was to use a carb plate ? It seems to me that is a lot of weight to pick up on four small bolts... I like the idea though....

thats all I use and Ive had my motor in and out prollu 5 times. I know curb hopper has had his motor out atleast 4 times using the same lift plate..
theyre perfectly safe because they spread the weight evenly across the four bolts making them stronger then any single bolt

I just want them for nostalgia reasons if I can find a pair at a reasonable price. I have a flat plate that I made and use to pull engines, they are indeed safe.
