Hey everyone any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated. My mechanic says I'm missing the shift linkage bushing that goes on the shaft behind the steering rod in the engine bays there's a bit of play in the linkage because of this missing bushing he says the linkage rod is 7/16 in diameter. Any ideas where I could find one of these? thanks for your time Km9287...

Can you post a picture of the spot where it's missing?

If you are, you can buy an assorted pack, from the "Help" section at the auto parts store, or you can still get them in different sizes from the Ford dealer.

I think the one he's talking about goes on the stud on the engine block(I know it's 7/16, think rocker stud with no threads on the upper end)... The ones I found in the HELP assortment are too small, though a couple do match up for other locations... What I've done on mine is press a hard plastic sleeve I had laying around on the pin then turn it down enough to fit through the assembly that operates the shift rod to the trans... It's no doubt not the best solution but should be OK till I can do better or install a floor shifter...
