a guy from the J/Y called me this morning to let me know there was a Maverick sitting next to the crusher. I drove over to find a 2 dr. 72 Mav. sitting there. everything on the front was sweet. bezels, grille, bumper, stone guard... valance had the J/Y blues. back bumper and valance was nice...seats front/back have been redone. the owner of the yard was going to sell the complete car but when he asked one of the guys to move it to the side...they ran the forks through the side windows to pick it up... Jeff and I are going to go Monday and strip it out...
yep... it's a 2 dr. Maverick...you never seen one... the rock looking stuff is the by-product after cars are melted down...
Here are some of the parts that I got off the 72. I never seen the paint codes on the rear markers before. I also never seen the battery hold down ell bracket in the junkyard before. Even had a dealer license plate frame. I also got the rear tie-down brackets.
I'd say we caught this one just in time. if I had thought about it, I could have gotten that piece of harness I want... working from a lift at home has spoiled me. i asked the forklift driver to set this up on this flattened truck to make removing the bumpers a breeze. of course borrowing Harold's battery operated impact wrench helped also...
this car is one I have been trying to buy for about 5-6 years...a guy next door to him got the car. Tim and I stopped by and talked to him about what he was planning on doing with it. at the time it was going to be restored/drag car. we told him we would help him either way he wanted to go but if he wanted to get rid of it, let me know... the J/Y called me...
shensel, from Gainesville,Fl. needs a white left fender and a hood... I see the hood looks shot, but the fender looks good... I'm giving him a set of bucket seats but I don't have the fender....
I'm going to run back by and see about that piece of harness I want, I'll see what it looks like. if things had worked out that I could have gotten the whole car it wouldn't be a problem. don't want to be pessimistic but from where the car was sitting, it's crushed by now...
No worries, I know they get crushed quick... Around here, one of the biggest crushers won't let you in to pick parts no matter how much you beg....
I have seen several sets of rear markers with the paint codes. I replicated those on my orange 1972 Grabber. Sorry....no pix.
Just curious, about how often or what percentage have you seen them? Would you say half of the cars that you have parted out had the paint dabs? The front marker brackets were total rust so I didn't see any markings
