I was reading that the rotors from a 72 Thundrebird might fit the Maverick. Just wondered if anyone here had tried this?
I have the complete brake assembly from a Granada or Monarch forget which to be a donor. I have been reading on the swap and I am kinda lost. I have a 74 Maverick 6 cylinder 5 lug with non power brakes exactly what parts do I need to change? Spindles, calipers, rotors, lines are for sure but do I need to use the Granada ball joints and tie rod ends for the swap? Also if I understand correctly the Granada spindle is the same as the Maverick? If so after the upgrade will I simply buy front brake barts for the 75 Maverick?
Sorry for all the questions just figured I would get it all out quickly.
    Thanks

Thanks that tells me a lot.
I noticed it mentioned a disc brake rear end from an Explorer I wonder is the Mountaineer would work as well? I have a complete vehicle that has my donor V8 waiting in it.

None of those are 12-inch rotors. Of course the 11-inch work just fine unless you're going slalom racing.

I was just curious but after some digging I found that the 12 inch rotors are about a 1/2 inch wider in the bearing area. This has probably been mentioned but Rockauto lists a SportStop XDrilled and Slotted Rotor.

IIRC.. that might be the mod listed in the Boss 302 Chassis book(parts recipe and all)???.. but I'm not sure whether it would apply to this car or not. Of course.. with a little ingenuity and some machining.. almost anything is possible these days(I may even be using Corvette brakes on all 4 corners of mine eventually). Also keep in mind that those are some damned heavy parts though.

Biggest problem is getting it all together and working correctly without actually spending close to.. or often more.. than a retro-fit kit would offer you. Especially considering that machine work ain't cheap these days.
