pulled wheel, caliper, rotor, spindle, coil over shock and checked everything twice...left front. had this before and after alignment. I was thinking it would go away after being aligned. but still have this noise when applying brake (light/heavy) and going straight and turn the wheel to the left slightly. when turning back right to straight the noise stops. no noise when turning right...this is at all speeds... I have not ruled out it being...My Ghost...
Interesting... Have you tried jacking that wheel off the ground and rotating it by hand? Giving it a good "tug" in all directions?
It could just be that you turn left too much. Try making more right turns so that your wear your parts evenly!
Are you certain its the bearings/races??? Make certain the caliper mount on the spindle is not loose or bent. Check that the pads fit tightly in the calipers. Loose pads will make all sorts of weird sounds. Since they are SSBC...I assume the pads are held in place by a pair of pins like PBR calipers on a vette. Check the pins for a groove worn in em from the pad, also check the pin bores to be certain there is no slop with the pins in place. Some of these setups have an O ring in the pin bore. If yourse have em, make sure they are all there (Should be 4 of em) Also...If you have dust shields on your setup...Check em for rub marks. Rotors do flex and can contact the sheild if they are close enough to each other to begin with. Check the hub face the rotor sits on for a burr or debris that will keep it from sitting flush. (It dont take much) Good luck!!!
yes, but they are just standard...D54 pads... it's just one side and this noise is loud, sounds like metal on metal.
No comment. Just subscribing to thread in case you figure it out, and I have the same issue after I install my ssbc brakes.
found an issue, don't know yet if it was the problem. the noisy side had an...outer race...spinning in the hub. I replaced the rotor, bearings and seal and will road test it tomorrow...
Did you use the bearings that came with the R&C Kit? Instructions say they are a different size than the standard MII bearings, and a bearing failure WILL occur.
