Any of the Marti-Reports I have seen, use this line-in-question based on the Body Code. In this case "62D", which would lead me to believe that Marti is talking about stats relating to 73 2-Door Maverick Grabbers. I know what you're saying Craig, but there seems to be no evidence of blending the two 2-Door body code stats IMHO. If this is true, that means that 9427 out of 32,350 1973 Grabbers (roughly 1/3) were white, which IS a little hard to swallow. Unfortunately, with Kevin Marti, there's no easy way for us to "check his work".
Hmmmmm. The reports for my 73's say: 800 came "5T" Saddle Bronze, 1556 came "4B" Green Gold Metallic.
So, since we have a few experts around here right now.. I have a few questions about this car. I've had it saved for sometime now due to the rarity and color combo which seems similar to mine and more of what I'm aiming for when done with it(including the swap to the Halo style top). Except in a Comet GT stripe theme, of course. 1. This little bit of the "Orange Levant" interior looks more similar to red on my monitors. Is it actually orange?.. or more like a burnt red similar to the stripes? 2. The top was originally a matching vinyl Halo style too and has now been painted? 3. Any chance the OP may go back to the stock matching vinyl top? 4. 73's had the midsized front bumpers and small rears, right?.. which means that has been changed as well? 5. And last but not least.. any interior pic's the OP can share with us? Thanks a bunch to any who can help answer the questions. PS. Oops.. forgot one last q. 6. Wouldn't it be a pretty safe bet that the actual rarity of this combo is much greater than what that Marti shows?
Says the guy with a White and Orange 74! I always wondered if this car was Originally a White and Orange Grabber. http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=90360 It was for sale locally, but is not on Kijiji anymore. I should have contacted the owner to get the full or partial (93) VIN. It had a really nice Orange interior.
wait.. am I'm confused yet again. Is this the car we're talking about?.. and it's supposed to have that same color interior as the race car posted above? If that's the case.. the picture isn't worth a thousand words after all. lol
I've got a white and orange 74 comet. The guy I bought it from removed the vinyl to get the roof painted and save it from rusting out under the vinyl. But importantly, he saved a nice scrap from the vinyl. I don't like vinyl roofs, so I might be convinced to mail it to someone if they want it. I would also point out the race car is the same orange as mine, the OPs car looks WAY more red. The orange stripes fade towards yellow not red.
Ill post some pictures when it stops raining..But the bumpers have been changed to small bumpers as well as the vinyl top.The vinyl top is now white so Im guessing the previous owner replaced it..I was wondering though what does "Convenience Group" mean and the "bumper rub strips"?
It's obviously been painted, and the interior changed, plus those aren't 73 stripes..anything can happen to a car in 40 years. Nice car anyways! Orange isn't for everyone.
I have the original top off my car, I removed it, and there was no rust under it at all. Some day, this car will go back to pure stock. Even 24 years ago, this car had 2 paint jobs...other than the hood for some reason. Oh look, my 5.0L Mustang, and my wife's Camaro.....
Other than the roof my car hasn't been repainted since it left the factory. At least if I can believe the guy who sold me it. He was a tiny bit of liar; but aren't we all? In any case I love the orange. I never really want to change my interior, just repair it. Man I should shell out for a marti report some time.
ok.. makes sense now. Thanks for that. and you're right.. if my car had an orange interior.. I'd likely trade it for the OP's seemingly red one almost any day. Although. I bet that was a damned sharp car when it rolled off the line.
Nice reupholstery job ... tastefully done! Is that an aftermarket A/C in the dash? Never seen a center vent like that.
