I got a remanufactured dist. today and the magnetic sleeve fit perfect.I guess the new one wouldnt work with pertronix.
the "new" distributor is not built by ford. they are built by some company that just mass produces cheap replacement parts for all kinds of different car company's. they obviously dont have the quality control to guarantee that their product it correct. i would suspect that their distributor works when its left as a point distributor.
yes that's what the guy mentioned to me..the new distributor also came with an extra rotor and cap but they were different from what I have.I just finished switching over the pertronix right now so hopefully I get the distributor in before it gets dark.
