I cut 1 coil and used a torch without any issues or settleing. I did compress the springs first to relieve the pressure. Pictures in my images section.
rthomas771, Thanks for your helpful response. I will be running headers and an aluminum intake, but the coils are the original '73 parts. Guess I'll take a wait-and-see approach. Will also be using 17" wheels, so this will probably have a bearing on the appearance of the car's stance.
add a leaf also i want to add a leaf to the back end on both springs my dads brother told me he added a leaf from a amc javlin to his gt but there are no amc cars anywhere so is thier another car i can get a leaf from that will fit thanks.
I took my springs to a local spring company, and had them add a leaf....my springs were new from p.s.t. if I remember correctly.
I had to cut my front coils after buying new ones from Mustangs Plus. I could hardly see over the hood, so I cut one complete coil from the top and measured the next with the cut off piece to make them equal. I used a power cutter with 2 counter rotating blades, from Harbor Freight. Made a big difference. I have a picture of before and after on my gallery.
