Does anyone know where I can get an Emergency Brake return spring for a 1970 maverick? Are there other cars that would match up to it?

Just to clarify, do you mean the spring on the front parking brake cable?

Or the springs that return the parking brake lever within the drums?

Sorry, not sure on that one, I thought the autokrafters front cable replacement had the spring, but it does not. Someone will chime in and give you a hand, though. (y)

I am sure you can get one at a hardware store.. It just returns the bracket back.

Is the spring just broken, or totally missing? Mine broke when the PO was loading the car to be shipped. He threw the spring in the back seat. When I got it, it had enough of the straight end left to heat with a propane torch and bend a new 'hook' in it with a pair of needle nose pliers.

I was actually looking at the Dorman "Help Aisle" stuff at my local parts store. If you can find something close, even a bit shorter (which makes it pull more tension) it will still work. Most auto parts stores sell them in a package of assorted springs.

    Good luck.
