I see in many sites where Mavericks built after Sept. 1st, 1969 had the ignition switch moved to the column. I have a 69 1/2 ordered on 08/12/69 and built on 09/16/69 that has the horn ring and dash mounted igntion switch. I bought it from the original owner in 1994 and highly doubt he ever changed back to an early switch. It also has the sticker rather than the metal data plate (which I understand that was changed on 08/15/1969 on all Ford cars). Does anybody on here have a later date Maverick than mine with the dash mounted switch? Is it possible that ORDERS received after 09/01/69 had the column mounted switch? I know that in my brochures it states that certain features were going to be standard after 09/30/69 such as non reversing odometers.

My Maverick is configured exactly like yours but mine is built in October of 69 (Marti Report and Ford 999 both verify the date) - ignition key in dash - door sticker - horn ring. I know who ordered the car new and the dealer that sold the car just 12 miles from where I live. Who can figure:huh:

It could depend upon when the different factories ran out of the early non-key steering columns. How many factories were building Mavericks the first year?

2, St.Thomas & Kansas, St.Thomas was the pilot plant and started production earlier than Kansas.

I guess they must have been build-outs when the factory uses the last of the model year parts.

I don't think we've actually ever determined when the change was actually made, since they made "70's" for a year and a half, they built alot of them.
