I have had shifting problems on my 73 302..i got under my car and noticed that I have a green stripe modulator...i looked around it to find any vaccum ports but I didnt find any...I have rebuilt another c4 from my 250 73 and it had an orange or red stripe modulator I believe..it had 2 ports..so my question is..do i have the wrong modulator on my car?I read that 2 ports was for Smog cars..so I was thinking of getting one with one port since it no longer requires Smog..Another question I have is what kind of spark plug wires should I go with..Tomorrow I'm going to the swap meet and they have Ford Racing wires and MSD wires (which cost a little more)..Any input on this would help. Thanks guys

I just had 2 73 trannys rebuilt and they both came back with the 1 hose vaccuum modulators. I researched it on here and found a thread that said that the 2 hose modulator was something Ford tried and then abandoned. I just seperated the vacuum lines and used 1 line.:)

73 was the only year with the 2 line vac. modulator, I have always heard the green strip was the best for performance as they are adjustable. As for the plug wires you can't really go wrong with either one, but I'd probably go for the msd just do to they specialize in ignition components.

Green stripe only has one port. I have a green stripe on my 73, and it works a lot better then the 2 port.

I wouldnt look it up for the 73 since it was originally a dual port the listings dont show all the 1 port options. And looknig at the page you posted makes me ashamed because I work on the data for Oreillys and seeing some of our vendors have notes that it fits a C6 or FMX in the Maverick data is going to make me do some work for a couple hours on monday fixing that.

If you want the green stripe, which sounds like the way to go, here is the part number http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/d...1&keyword=vacuum+modulator&pt=C0073&ppt=C0338
