I have a Ford parts catalog but I can't seem to find the number for this item. 1971 Maverick 250 6 cylinder (4.1L) engine Oring seal at the bottom of the distributor. None seem to be available from any local parts stores and none are listed in any of the Mustang supply catalogs! Any help would be appreciated ... Thanks ... Bob
7A294 is the 0-ring base part number. PM me you shipping address and I wound send you a used 0-ring that you can use to find a replacment
There is still one on my distributor and I did not want to remove it before I had a new replacement one. You know how that goes you take it off and it either brakes or you lose it and can't find it when you go to put the part back in. If I can't find a new replacement one I will just leave the original one on the distributor. I was going to try and polish the housing before I put it back in the engine.
Thanks! This is what I was looking for. Going backwards I now found it in the parts catalog. Bob ps: the parts catalog picture does show the oring on the distributor as a 7A294 which is what was confusing to me ...
When I was looking up the part number...I was looking for the word "0-Ring" and never seen the word. I randomly looked a distriubtor pic to find the base number. All of the other pics call it 12143 except for the pic I choosed to get my infomation..for reason unknown Ford called it a "Gasket" not "0-Ring" in the 60-68 and 73-79 catalogs and not listed in the 65-72 catalog.
Well using the part number C0DF12143A I was able to buy some of these from Green Sales. They are on the way along with some other NOS pieces I decided to replace on the car. Thanks again for the part number, you guys always come through in the hour of need ... Bob
They were cheap enough. We will see next week when they show up. There really isn't anything wrong with the one on the distributor now but I thought since its out I would replace it. Im going to try and polish up the distributor to make it pretty before I put it back and I though there might be a chance that the oring would break when i take it off. Anyway i have a few backups coming and I'll lube em up first ...
Orings came today! Nice and soft not dry at all! The heater knob was wrong though. Item was number wrong. Oh well not worth the $5 to send it back and it was their only one. I needed one for the defroster switch to match all of my other knobs.
I found the 0-Ring at a local Napa for anyone in the future needing one. http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/R...k=Keyword&Nty=1&Dn=0&D=FPG+5511&Dk=1&Dp=3&N=0
