Ok I have read where none of the 1969.5/1970 Mavericks had bucket seats, did Ford put reinforcement plates on the bottom of the floorpan for them anyhow? My 1971 Grabber was a bench set car and had no reinforcement for the inner side of the buckets where they bolted down, on the other hand the 1969.5 I have here in the shop has factory reinforcement metal for the inner bucket seat bolts....if none had them then why the extra metal/expense? and has anyone else got the extra metal there on the inner side for buckets on a 69.5/70? I am thinking on getting a Marti report eventually on this car but if this is unique to this car I will get one sooner, no this is not an owner added on piece of metal either I checked it very closely, it is factory.
I'll go look at mine and see what the 71 Comets had. EDIT: oops.. sorry.. got sidetracked with the kids in the pool today. ok.. mine has the rear bolts on both front seats going into a u-shaped bracket that runs sideways and wraps up into the tunnel a few inches. So, I'm guessing that cars which came with bucket seats from the factory would have had those reinforcements too.. and I've had around 10 old Fords with similar design that all had buckets too so that seems to fit. There is also a smaller(about 1.5x2) reinforcement plate below the outer most front bolt hole on both seats as well. Inner is just single floorboard thickness metal with a bigger flat washer being used on it to avoid issue with eventual hole slop. And no one ever likes "hole slop". lol Hope that helps too.
I have a 69.5 with buckets, and no, they didn't put the reinforcements on the underside of the floor. I use body mount washers and have never had a problem.
Ok finally got a pic of the inner reinforcement for the 69.5 bucket seats, do ya'll think a Marti report is in order? will it tell me if it came with bucket seats? the guy I bought it from has the seats for it, I am going to buy them but I was not going to put them in this car, I may have to rethink that now.
NO 1969.5/1970 MAVERICKS EVER CAME WITH BUCKET SEATS FROM THE FACTORY. It was not an option. It was not available. Anything anybody observes out there has bucket seats out of another car. Having looked at the picture that Moneymaker1 has posted, it looks like something was added to the floorboard in order to make the floors stronger for the buckets that were added to the car.
Yes Marti Report, I agree, I just wish there was some way of finding out other information, I would love to know who built the engine, what it has internally and when it was built, I figure the Marti Report will at least tell me some things about it that are not readily apparent, but it's also a good thing to have anyhow, the engine tag has me stumped on one part, it lists a change code of 11, can't find any info on that at all, none of it matters too much as I will build it as a MaviGT right down to the offset hood scoop! Also I just looked at the car again, actually went to look at the door data plate info but it's unreadable, this car was either a factory floor shift car or the steering column has been changed out as there is no shift collar on the column.
Yes and where the one is on this tag in the picture, mine has an 11, it is bolted down under the coil bracket.
