I'm looking at purchasing an AOD for the mave and found one out of a 92 Van. would this be an AODE or an AOD and would it be the same length as a mustang AOD or longer?
AODs Applications: 1980–1986 Ford LTD 1980–1993 Ford Thunderbird 1980–1993 Mercury Cougar 1980–1993 Ford Mustang 1980–1986 Mercury Marquis 1980–1987 Lincoln Continental 1980–1983 Lincoln Mark VI 1983–1990 Ford Econoline ...click here... 1983–1991 Ford LTD Crown Victoria 1983–1992 Mercury Grand Marquis 1982–1993 Ford Bronco 1980–1990 Lincoln Town Car 1980–1987 Lincoln Continental 1980–1983 Lincoln Mark VI 1984–1992 Lincoln Mark VII 1992 Ford Crown Victoria ...ILMAOD...
Mine came out of a 93 E-150, and it was longer, but we had to change the tail section since there was no hole for the speedo cable, the 93 vans sense the speed from the rearend. From what I was told, the truck/van ones are the ones you want.
The T-bird up to 1993 is the strongest AOD that you will find. The AODE requires a computer substitute (available after-market) to run in the Mavs and Comets. The 4R70W is the strongest of all the AOD bretheren and the internal parts can be fitted into the AOD case and used with the late AOD valve body.
I could be wrong here...... but they do not make a full manual valve body for aodEs In order for it to shift into overdrive you need some kind of control unit..... not mention the shift points are controlled by the Control unit..... http://www.baumannengineering.com/tcs.htm It wouldn't be an AODE otherwise
well ya never know. lol my dad started collecting parts for efi conversion in 97, finally did it in 09... haha
