OK so i finally got everything I need to install my t5 swap into my car, just got my clutch pedals and i was wondering if anybody has pics of them installing them into their cars, any help I'd greatly appreciate it!! thanks!!!
Using maverick pedals? If so I would search the web for the mustang kits and see the kits used for stock pedals to hydraulic master cylinder or the mustang steve kit to use a cable.
this is where i burst your bubble. the Z bar wont work with a standard T5 bell and clutch fork. The Z bar will PUSH on the clutch fork, the T5 is set up for a PULL from the cable. Not really an easy fix for this. Choices are going with the Mustang Steve cable setup, hydraulic slave and master cylinder, or old bell housing with adapter to T5.
hat just bursted a big bubble right now... Ok so which kit do I have to get from mustang Steve to make this work cause I've already spent allot on everything so far
Some good reading here on options to install a T5 http://www.moderndriveline.com/Technical_Bits/classic_swaps.htm CLick on the Product catalog on the upper left and see the different parts they sell. Ive heard there is a way to adapt a T5 bell to us a different clutch fork and move the pivot ball to make it work. Im pretty sure this will take some machining to do.
Man I was on a big hill until this.. Ok so i wanna go cable on it, which set up from mustang Steve do I need?
If you go here, http://www.mustangsteve.com/cable.html, I would look at the CK165 or CK265 Complete Kits. hte differenece is one had an adjustable cable stop. Sinc ethe cable is already adjustable you can go with the non adjustable cable stop and save some money. I was going to say to get the 94 cobra cable because it is longer but reading in there website it says that they no winclude the longer cable with the kits. You will have to weld the quadrant to your clutch pedal. And clearance the underside of the cowl a little with a BFH. I didnt go this route because I didnt have a pedal already, and there is no way id be able to get up under my dash with a hammer to make the room. I have too many wires and stuff added under there. If you have a Z bar and headers that will clear your Z-Bar then you can try this kit to modify your T5 bell housing to accept the Z bar. You will still need to get an early clutch fork to go along with it. http://www.cjponyparts.com/64-68-t5-fulcrum-block-clutch-fork-w%2fspring-fork-convert-new-bell%2f-old-style-linkage-pre-2%2f15%2f68-1964-1968/p/T5FB1/
Hey Ryan I had bought this kit from my job cause it came with everything dual-friction clutch, adjustable cable, steeda quadrant and the firewall bushing, you think I can use that quadrant or just return it and get the kit from mustang Steve?? Part number is K0048-01DFC at OReillys.
I bought that exact same clutch kit. I put the cable in my mustang, sold the quadrant and adjuster since my mustang already had it, and put the clutch set in my maverick. It seems to be working really well so far. The quadrant will not work easily on the maverick pedal unless you find a way to bolt it on. THe Mustang steve quadrant is welded to the stock pedal. You may be able to use the adjuster though. And the cable is the shorter standard version. Many guys use it but say the 4" longer one makes life easier. SO you may get away with just buying the Mustang Stave quadrant and using the cable and adjuster from your kit. BTW: Do you work for Oreillys?
Ryan, the longer cable is much better on the Mustang Steve kit. He puts that in all the kits now. I think it is for the 2001-2004 Cobra. Gives me the room to unbind the cable and get it past the headers.
K k ill probably just return it and just get a stock clutch and buy the kit that has the adjustable cable minus the adjustable stop cable bracket.. And yup that's where I work at
I work at the Oreillys office in Phoenix. I used to work in the Checker Auto stores and we converted to Oreillys. Now I work in the Electronic catalog department. We do the catalog data for the website and soon will be launched into all the stores to replace the existing catalog data that is purchsed from outside.
That's gonna help allot to us little people out there like me haha I'm tryin to find a better position for me but san antonio doesn't have to many, well I'll just try and sell the cable, quadrant and bushing together and see what I can get for it,and get the ck265 kit. thanks for all the info yall!!
