Lately I have been thinking about changing the gears in my rearend being that I now have a second project car that im going to fix-up and use as my daily driver to get to and from work and college. Im thinking I could go with 3.55, 3.80 or 4.10 , right now the ratio in the mav is 2.79. What would you guys sudjest.
I want to keep the Mav as a street car. I dont intend to do any racing of any kind in it. 3.55 would probrably be my best choice

Then I would recommend not changing a thing. Yeah...I know that ain't no fun....but driving 55 is driving 55. Plus....Your current gear ratio is great for gas milage.
You make a good point.. To be honest It might be more fun than I think being that Im only used to the I6 that I took out.
If you are running a C-4 or 3/4 spd stick...and plan to drive it on the highway.Go with the 3.55s' If you have an over drive trans you can go 4.11/3.80 gear set. Personally I wouldnt go less than a 3.80 with an OD trans. Unless you are running Electronic fuel injection. You dont want the carb in the fat idle circuit while cruising in OD at 1800 rpm...
yup i gotta c4 auto and carbed v8. if i do change it i will go with that being that i practically live next to the highway lol
3.31 is common in 8.8s'...3.30 isnt a common ratio for the 8" It can be had for the 9" though. Good all around ratio too....
Gotta say... I wish it was available for the 8"....3.30/3.31 is a nice ratio for a cruiser. Its our lot in life to have to compromise with these cars, or go nuts dropping cash and fabbing things up to fit...LOL...
