Okay, so I'm on a "new products roundup" kick - so sue me - lol I'm just trying to make smart buys and figure other are too. For the record, I spec'd my 1975 Maverick 2-dr for pricing. But given the relative ubiquity of our cars, the prices should be comparable for all years (except maybe the 4-door models.) Many of these companies advertise Auto Custom Carpet, others don't. Are they molding their own? I have no idea... REPLACEMENT CARPET (in no particular order) Auto Interior & Upholstery $116 + $55 mass back option (limited colors) Stock Interiors $119 + $59 mass back option (lots of colors) JC Whitney / Newark $98 (disappointing reviews) eBay $135 eBay $140 eBay $130 (the eBay list goes on naturally) Auto Custom Carpet $227 Auto Carpet Direct $141 Automotive Interiors $123 Auto Carpet Pros (ACC) $148 Automotive Interiors Online $128 The latter listings are just other companies I found online. Feel free to add your preferred vendor to the list if I missed them... ADDITIONS: Vark Motors (ACC) $131 (thanks Moneymaker1) AutoKrafters $184 (specifies "custom order - no returns" so its probably a dropship-to-customer from ACC. Dare I mention how much more expensive AK is, especially for a factory dropship order, in light of my weatherstripping post?)
I like www.VarkMotors.com I deal with George Sheets, great guy and will do what he can to help you, they carry ACC carpets.
I noticed on some of the links it states these are one piece carpets. My original is two pieces. Are all of the replacements one piece or does it vary from company to company? What are the ACC carpets one or two pieces? Who out there has what in their cars? Bob ...
Given the similarity in most of the product descriptions and color options, that's almost certainly the case. Then there's Newark (JCWhitney) which seems to be a manufacturer. If there really is just one supplier, I'd expect the pricing to be much higher given the relatively small size of our purchasing community. (See my other thread about expensive weatherstripping!) So... Has anyone bought Newark / JC Whitney carpet lately? (Some of the reviews are okay, but one was so bad it made me think the poor guy may have actually received the wrong carpet for his vehicle.) Also which is better: one piece or two???
ACC website doesn't say (that I can find). Many of the eBay listings states the carpet is from ACC and is 1-pc. So according to Sherlock Holme's, we may deduce ACC does at least offer 1-pc carpet. Maybe they offer 2-pc as well...???
ACC only sells them as one piece. If you find a ACC dealer, they can order any color and style of carpet you want. This is right out of the box, everything fit perfect.
I have one piece ACC carpet in my 1972. I bought it from ebay (whoever was the lowest price vendor at the time). I am happy with the fit and finish.
I bought by black cut pile 1 piece from George at Aardvark Motors. 137.00 with a free shipping bonus for November (extended for December) so the cost was around the same as the lesser prices listed here if you add their shipping charges
