buy some lizard skin..both sound and ceramic forumla wait till summit has their 20% winter sale to save cash ..sis i mention its also fire rated! anything else is pretty flammable
ps chassis saver is good too, same spec as por-15 but abot 15 bucks cheaper give or take... if you do this make sure you degreese the area and use their self etching,,prep is the key to something working correctly and holding up for years
What are you payng for a gallon of POR 15? And its not the same spec. And you dont need to use any eching product. Clean and spray.
Are you selling Por 15? No disrespect, but....BS Im getting SEM for 75.00 a gallon can you beat that?
RE-read what I posted.. I said chassis saver is the same spec as por-15, but a bit cheaper in price compared to por- 15. I'm not selling anything. and shaneb mentioned the correct products for the prep..marine clean..as in to degreese..and i'm sure the etching was the metal prep..which should be used on new metal or bare grinded smooth metal. puts a zinc etched finish on smooth metal so the product can adhere to the surface..
Nothing wrong with a quality undercoating as long as it is sprayed over a properly prepared surface. Fwiw
Undercoating works fine but as mentioned, removing is a mess when you need to weld or etc. If you miss any spots you leave areas for water to get in and sit (behind the undercoat). Mine is done with Primer, Rustoleum flat black enamel, and covered with truck bed coating. Tar is a cheaper alternative and holds up better then rubberized undercoating, it smells and is a mess though
My buddy did this to his 69 Camaro. It's tough stuff and he said it cut road noise and exhaust noise down significantly.
I think there both really good, rust bullet, POR15. They only reviews I found that had customers complaining are the ones that didnt prep the body right. Everyone else said they were both great. A lot of people have said Rust Bullet goes on easier than POR15. I think I might go with what ever is cheaper between the two. LOL. What have you guys done to remove all the crud from the bottom of your car?
a hand-held propane torch (small camping bottle style) with the hand held tip that screw on with a scraper. that gets off some nasty factory stuff..then wire wheel it down to bare
I used Greased Lighting, a bug sprayer and garden hose. Both of my old cars didn't have undercoating...just years of grease and grime.
I will definetely try the propane tank and see how it works. Im guessing just go over it a few times heat it up and scrap it off and then as you mentioned use the wire grinder to get to shiny metal?
if you go with the Por15, don't forget to get some... Marine Clean, and Metal Ready... they are the proper prep...
