I've read all of the archives regarding the RC MII susepsions and would like to simply confirm with those that have done it. Is it TRULY a bolt-in deal? Or???
Not even close to a bolt in. You will have to cut out the original shock towers, then weld in the new front crossmember. The suspension all bolts in after that though.
The nice thing about a Rod & Custom kit is that that their kit will fit your car whereas most other kits you make their part fit your car. Another thing to consider is every thing to need to complete the swap is in the box. With other kits you will have to buy more parts. I have been involved 3 times, mostly I'm the guy holding the tail, installing their kit. Each time I seen them go in without any problem what so ever.
Agreed. This is a kit in the truest sense. Everything is there and all the guess work and engineering is done.
Thanks All, rthomas, nice to hear that you have seen it go in three times without problems. The kit is 2595, power or manual! And, car-nut, you are correct, the towers and crossmember. But, not a big deal. Thanks again.
Did you guys see the custom Comet that belonged to Chip Crenshaw? It was sold at auction today. He had an accident with it and totaled it. Made me sick to my stomach. Was a recent magazine feature car, MII suspension, 427 stroker, EFI, a/c, p/s, and many many more features. I'm still sick over it...and guess what. It sold for $2600. This was a 30K plus car before the rollover. And I believe it can be saved. I just wish I had known about it a few days ago. I would have been in the bidding. There are two open threads about this car in case you haven't read up on it. Actually two different Comets were totaled. I wanted both of them.
