front speakers ?

ok i was looking to day and this is what i seen where do my 4" speakers mount at? thnk you guys for any info

 

Behind the Kick panels.

 

my maverick is a 72 and the kick panels are to small for the 4"

You have parts missing to mount a dash speaker.

 

I'm not sure if the early cars are different, but they fit just fine in my 75.

It has a hole behind the kick panel pre-drilled.
Then the speaker mounts in there via two self taping screws.
Then the kick panel covers it, I got the grilles off a 90s Jeep Cherokee.
It's not concourse correct, but it works and you cant beat the price...Free!
I think the Torino grilles are the correct ones to use.

 

72s don't have that speaker cut-out behind the kicks, just an access hole for the door hinge hardware. In 1973, they started the later style sheetmetal that has mounts for speakers.

I had surface-mounted 4 inch speakers on plastic kick panels and ran them that way for years. You just have to get strategic in placing them right so that the magnet will protrude into the access hole. I did not need to trim mine. You will need to flex the kick panel a bit to install it with the speaker hanging on it, just be gentle.

I recently switched back to dash mounted speakers, or I would have pics to show you.

 

I installed an A/C under-dash tray and put speakers inside the outer ducts.

I went down to my local speaker shop and got some offset spacers for my 4" speakers. They angle the speakers and they set it out so that you are able to mount any speaker there, the magnet fits right in the access hole, it and because of the mounting hardware it doesnt look that bad, when I get home I will try and take pics of them I dont have them installed right now because I am getting ready to rip out my carpet...

This is what I did with two 4 inch speakers that I had here. A better idea would be to mount a couple of component tweeters and call it done. This is very tight to the defroster duct.

The rear speakers have a healthy amp and do the bulk of the sound in my system. I will be wiring in bass blockers for these also.
