how hard and what would the steps be to put posi in a 73. I got it suck in some mud in my driveway while it was raining because a damn gopher hole caved in and one tire kept spining deeper and deeper, i got it out after a while but, i wouldn't want this happening somewhere else and i think it would help. plus i dont like the one wheel peel :chirp:

Yeah, 800 seems kinda steep. I set mine up with a spool and 3.80 gears for about $300. In my garage, using old large sockets and a sledge hammer as a "press".

Probably wouldn't have helped you in your predicament. Just woulda put TWO deep holes in the yard, and sunk both wheels up to the axle.

If nobody s interested in the used limited slip you have shoot me a PM. I have a 8" track-loc that is basically a open housing machined to accept 2 clutches and 4 spiders. I need somthing just a little stronger.

Yes. But what alot of guys are doing is machining meterial out of one of the hats and milling 2 slots to accept a 2 ear clutch. Then they use a spring pack and cross pin from a track-loc unit to load the side gear. The problem is if you apply any substantial power the hat will break and take the rest of the diff with it.

I think your asking if the "banjo" housing is different (what the brakes attah to) if so, no, they are the same.

Do you know anything about this unit? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/8-Fo...ptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

Seller says it will fit in any 8" housing.
