Hi guys, I just my first project car, 1976 Maverick, and this looks like a good place to get info and help. Im not a "car guy". My dad was. I can turn a wrench and I'm not afraid to try things and learn. I've got a nice car that doesnt need alot to be functionable, but i will be looking for parts over time. The first simple thing i thought would be easy isnt so easy. I'm looking for a driver side seat belt. Who knew my car is too old for local junkyards, ebay is a little pricey. I havent checked here yet for parts but im sure theres lots of guys on here that have things laying around. any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. thank you. i look forward to the knowledge and help i can gain here. jon, ny
from the great NW. I probably have what you need but I am on the other coast and don't plan on trying to ship parts. I am sure someone in your area should be able to help out. Enjoy.
CHeck here http://www.seatbeltplanet.com/seatbelts-and-accessories/hardware-kits/m.products/28/view/71 you can buy new webbing fairly cheap and fix your own seat belts.
I think their warning message would scare me away from trying that. I know of two local upholstery shops that sew but I seriously doubt that they could do the belts properly. Here's their warning: WARNING!!! *DO NOT attempt to sew or assemble seat belts unless you are a qualified manufacturer. *Manufacturing seat belts requires very specialized assembly skills, thread type, sewing machines and knowledge of federal standards. *If you do not possess all the equipment, skills and training necessary to manufacture a seat belt, please do not attempt to: repair, re-web, restore, upgrade, alter or build one yourself. *Failure to follow this warning could result in serious injury or death in the event of a crash. *
I think that is called CYA (Cover Your Keyster). Just their way of saying, "Hey....you can't blame (or sue) us...we told you so!!".
yeah i dont think i want to make my own seat belts. ill keep looking. im sure its our there some where!
