I test fited my new radiator today only to find out my taurus fan wont fit cuz the electric motor on it wont clear my water pump. are there any other fans that are lo-pro and cool just as good as the taurus fan. i found one made by jegs that flows 2200cfm for a little over 100 dollars but dont know if it will match the cfm of the taurus fan.

I had that problem. Switched to an Escort fan. Same fan, more compact shroud. It's close but it clears, and it cools well.

i use the escort fan also. its fan is offset from the center of the shroud and helps it clear the waterpump.

    Wanna say mine was '98ish.

Have to be more specific. Like what kind of CFM do the fans flow, and will there be any kind of a shroud? Without knowing more, I would say this idea would probably not be as efficient as the Escort fan, because it wouldn't cover as much radiator.

On my Taurus fan conversion, I had to cut the fan shroud to sit flat against the radiator flanges. The holes had to be modded just a bit, but it sits flat and fine. I think the Taurus fan pulls a bit more cfm than the Escort fan, but as you say, clearance is tight, but not bad. I have about 3/8" between the fan motor and the water pump pulley bolts.

When I compared the two, the fans themselves were exactly the same. Same diameter, same number and pitch of blades. The shrouds are different and the motors are different. The Taurus fan motor has a low and a high speed, Escort fan only has the one speed which seemed to be about the same as the Taurus's high speed.

I would say the CFM is probably about the same, although the position of the fan and the shape of the shroud might make a difference.

When I put in my Taurus fan I modified the radiator support, removed the section that sticks out back towards the motor, so that the support is now flat. 'Course I also was installing a 26" wide aluminum crossflow radiator, too.

i will mod the shroud and see what i come up with. i had to do some modifying to get my bottom radiator mounts to work so it shouldnt be too hard.

i got it to fit. i had to cut of sections of the shroud of the sides so it will sit directly flush on the radiator. now i have to figure out how i want to mount it

Those zip bands are great for removing the fins of your radiator. It is always better to mount accesories to the radiator framework using a metal mount that doesn't touch the radiator.
